Australian icon Steve Irwin has died from a stingray barb through his heart.

The 44-year-old “Crocodile Hunter” was one of the most well-known conservationists of our time, and a national treasure to the people of Australia. He was fond of even the most dangerous animals on the planet, and was known for his “Crikey!” catchphrase.

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie offered to give Steve a state funeral.

He will be missed.
