I hate Yahoo because….

July 30th, 2004 No comments

I hate Yahoo because:

- They never answer you when you need it most

- When they do answer, they will send you only a flippant form letter, which has nothing to do with what you asked most of the time.

- I cancel my service with them and try to transfer my site to another server, but Yahoo does not even have the decency to give me my own registry key so that I may actually transfer!! First, I was told, I have to give Yahoo my ID, zip code/d.o.b., last eight digits of my credit card, AND the credit card type to get my registry key/domain EPP. All this without a secure connection anywhere. I’m supposed to just randomly hand it over.

- They display your personal information all over the internet even though they tell you they will protect you. Case in point:

Under Yahoo’s Confidentiality and Security, it lists the following: “We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you. ”

I guess that complying with federal regulations means listing my address, zip code, and telephone number for the world to see.

Under Yahoo’s Interacting Online With Strangers: “Social Engineering” is a common ploy used to gain access to accounts. Perpetrators get to know and befriend their victims, and then use information provided by an unsuspecting victim to guess a password or secret answer. Remember, someone needs to know your date of birth, ZIP code, and the answer to your secret question to obtain your Yahoo! password.”

I know better. I am not the one who is stupid. It is thanks to Yahoo’s stupidity that strangers can actually get my zip code, and I bet they could easily get my d.o.b. thanks to Yahoo too! What else can people access from the Yahoo! servers? Credit card number, height, weight, and SSN? I wouldn’t be surprised. I suppose that’s why Yahoo didn’t bother to help submit my information securely to verify myself. They already don’t give a damn who sees your personal information.

I have had a lack of assistance, lack of respect , and blatant display of my personal information. This is a gross insult and shows what kind of company they really are.

I want mandysroyalty.org to exist and flourish. However, thanks to Yahoo’s loose-lipped servers and other careless behavior, I am definitely taking my business elsewhere. I would advise anyone else to do the same if they are currently involved with Yahoo, and if you are considering setting up a site with them: DON’T. This is the same company who blatantly said that they could use your personal work and anything else original on your site without your consent. Watch out.

Also, shop around for a better website domain price. Yahoo is $8.95 per month, with a $15 set-up fee and NO choice of keeping your information sealed from the public.

Baffled

My site’s photos and graphics are not loading. Everything is where it should be, and the URLs to everything are correct, so what’s the problem? I can’t figure out what’s happening.

Ridiculous

A cluster of colorblind hedgehogs in a bag could’ve designed a better memorial fountain.

LONDON – Officials switched off the memorial fountain honoring Princess Diana Thursday because three people were injured when they slipped and fell in it.

The three slipped on stone steps that are part of the granite structure in Hyde Park, said Royal Parks spokesman Theo Moore. One was a child who suffered a bump on the head and some bleeding. The two others were adults, but the Royal Parks did not know how seriously they were hurt.

“We are obviously very concerned about their welfare and hope they recover swiftly,” Moore said. “We immediately switched off the flow of water and will not be turning it back on until we are satisfied it is safe to do so. A full and thorough investigation has already started.”

Moore said the water was turned off at 3 p.m. and would not be turned on until the investigation is finished and any needed safety measures are added.

Flood

“The £3.5-million water monument to Princess Diana, which was opened to the public on Wednesday, has already hit a snag. The fountain, inaugurated by the Queen the day previous, was affected by the 60mph winds and torrential rain which hit England and caused the oval stone waterway to flood.”

God is angry? ;-)
