Belgium’s Crown Princess Mathilde has been soaking up the sights and sounds of Russia’s capital city this week. The 33-year-old royal was photographed during a visit to Moscow’s spectacular Novodevichy Monastery on Tuesday, after she and her husband Crown Prince Philippe arrived for a five-day visit.
Prince Philip caused another furor when he claimed he intends to do “as little as possible” during the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The prince’s latest barb came before the publication of The Duke of Hazard: The Wit and Wisdom of Prince Philip, a book which celebrates six decades of his blunt – and often politically incorrect – comments during engagements across the world.
The 100-page book includes details of an infamous gaffe in Beijing, China in 1986, when the prince told British students “if you stay here much longer you’ll all be slitty-eyed.”

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and younger brother Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, became Knights of the Garter this past Monday. Their siblings, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, and the Earl’s wife Sophie Wessex were among those present. The Queen was, naturally, prsent at the proceedings as well as the Duke of York’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. The family celebrated the two Princes receiving Britain’s highest order of chivalry.
Prince Andrew’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, received a special invitation from the Queen herself to attend the ceremony.
