Speaking of hangers-on, I would like to take this opportunity to post this open letter to Mr. Paul Burrell, whose website I’ve just viewed. Much to my own chagrin.
Dear Mr. Burrell,
I find your status as a quasi-celebrity highly questionable. How long will you go on making ‘appearances’ and writing books, living off the name of the late Princess? If you truly want to help people remember Diana, why not work for her charitable causes or her estate, rather than simply pose as a celebrity? Do something of worth for her before you tour American cities and hock your “intimate” revelations just to pad your own ego.
I laugh at your criticism of Simone Simmons. Of course you don’t like her – she’s competition in the Princess of Wales Fame stakes.

If you look around his website, it seems that he is pretending to be like Diana. It is extremely creepy.
Every year since her untimely passing, Diana’s name & her hangers-on looking for fame and money always pop up around this time. There’s always something that happens suddenly within the July 1st – August 31st time span, the date of her birth and the date of her death respectively. It’s like a spotlight for people. Even The Independent agrees with me.
So when this time of year rolls around, you know that the latest news is going to be one of two things: Accident revelations, or Affair revelations. Or both!
Diana was not especially adept at keeping monogamous. We all know the Charles and Camilla affair, but that’s what made it distinct – it was just CHARLES and CAMILLA. That’s it. Diana, on the other hand…
But no one could be THAT crass and loose. Give me a break. Every five seconds someone is coming up with a story that he had an ‘encounter’ with The Princess of Wales. And the latest guy is poking around looking for one MILLION pounds for a book deal, in order to – you guessed it – tell the ‘truth’.
Sebastian Rich – award winning cameraman – is on a search for a book deal. But will publishing houses even give him the time of day? I certainly hope not. Diana’s love affair stories have become so frequent, that no one could possibly be interested in it any more. Just look at how this latest farce reads! All you have to do is just write in the latest name:

The Princess Royal will commence her visit to New Zealand tomorrow, Sunday 9th July, arriving at Auckland International Airport from Fiji.
Monday 10th July: Princess Anne will be at Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre in Auckland for the Emerging Pacific Leaders’ Dialogue Closing Sessions. She will then attend a dinner at Mollies Boutique Hotel in St Mary’s Bay, with Save The Children. The Princess has been President of Save The Children since 1970.
On the Tuesday she will again be at Waipuna Hotel, for the Emerging Pacific Leaders’ Dialogue Closing Sessions.
On Wednesday the Princess, Royal President, Riding for the Disabled Association, will visit Ambury Park Centre for Riding Therapy.
Princess Anne in Fiji attack scare
A man was arrested after throwing a metal bowl in the direction of Britain’s Princess Anne in the Fijian capital.
No one was injured in the fracas outside the Save the Children Fund office in Suva where the Princess had just officiated at a charity function, police spokeswoman Sylvia Low said.
A 24-year-old man with a history of psychiatric problems hurled a 6 inch diameter steel bowl toward a policeman who was closing the door of a car the princess had just entered, Low said.
The bowl struck no one.
“A police officer was closing the door and this guy who lived right next door threw a steel mortar toward the police officer,” Low said.
“The officer was near the princess, but she was already seated in the vehicle,” she added.
The man has yet to be charged but is expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday, Low said.

Two of the most popular members of the Tongan royal family have been killed in California when a teenager allegedly racing her car at speeds of up to 100mph clipped their sports utility vehicle as she tried to overtake them.
Prince Tu’ipelehake, 56, and his wife, Princess Kaimana, 46, died on Wednesday night in a crash on a freeway in Menlo Park, about 30 miles south of San Francisco, according to relatives.
The prince was the nephew of the 88-year-old King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV and was known as the leading reformist in the royal family.
Senter Uhilamoelangi, a family friend and distant relative, said that the couple had arrived in the San Francisco Bay area earlier this week to discuss political reforms in Tonga with members of the region’s Tongan community. Tu’ipelehake was head of a national committee studying democratic reforms for the kingdom.
“His voice we’ll never hear again, but his legacy is going to live on,” Mr Uhilamoelangi said. “He was a good leader because he took the voice of the people all the way to the House of Parliament and carried it all the way to the king.”
The deaths stunned the Tongan community, which was just finishing celebrations of the ailing king’s birthday on on July 4.
“He was very popular. This is a great loss for the country,” said Satai Pale, the secretary of the National Committee of the Kingdom of Tonga on Political Reform.
