What marvelous photos! Have a look: “The celebration of a new king.”

Bhutan seems like it shall have a brighter future than poor Nepal.

I updated the ceremonies page a few weeks ago, but I don’t think I posted the update here. Recently added is the list of major royal weddings throughout the generations, along with details of the coronation and music used in the ceremony.

Read Andrew Cusack’s article about the newly crowned King George Tupou V of Tonga and his sartorial prowess. Andrew is, as usual, extremely eloquent.

We may have lost Nepal to a republic, but Tonga still stands strong.

Fireworks and cannon fire filled the air above Tonga on Friday, as the South Pacific nation celebrated the coronation of King George V. The new monarch was crowned in front of 1,000 guests - including Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Japanese crown prince Naruhito - at a ceremony in the capital.

I was recently visiting YouTube.com, and I happened to search for British Royalty. I discovered a wonderful video - King George VI’s coronation! I highly advise you to go and see it.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of “The Year of Three Kings” in 1936. So this coronation video is very poignant. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth retained King Edward VIII’s coronation date as their own.
