We are leaving for our English honeymoon immediately after the wedding. I still can’t believe it! I am so excited.
As a British royal historian, it’s nice that I actually get to visit the UK after ten years in the business. Being able to physically encounter the sights and sounds of the country will make my studies and presentations to my audience far richer. I hope what I experience makes the site and the blog even better than before. Of course, all photos will be posted here for your enjoyment… or just for your curiosity.
As wedding preparations continue (and as work picks up) I will not be able to post here as much. I will be happy to give a few updates once in a while though, especially if there is something in royal news that makes me want to rant, debate, discuss, or all of the above.
Though he has not updated his blog for almost a year, Rafal Heydel-Mankoo, the noted honors expert, returns via CTV Newsnet.
Mankoo is interviewed via telephone from Edinburgh about the recent May wedding of Peter and Autumn Phillips, which can be found here.
HRH The Princess Royal was both chastised and praised for wearing a dress that was last seen at the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
The still-slender Princess Anne was even wearing the same hat she wore at her brother’s wedding! Naturally the newspapers picked up on this immediately. HRH simply responded that the Queen had brought her up not to be wasteful.
“A good suit goes on forever. If it is properly made and has a classic look you can go on wearing it ad infinitum. Economy is bred into me. My parents believe that things are not to be wasted. That lesson does last.”
Which, along with being able to still fit into a 27-year-old dress, does deserve kudos. I’m finding it hard to fit into things that I wore last year, so I can’t even begin to imagine 27 years. Good on her, I say. It’s not as if the Princess has worn it the last five weddings. Let her live!
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has also been noted to wear ‘recycled’ outfits. The dual HRHs are very much aware, I’m sure, that the action of wearing the same outfit, even twice, is a double-edged sword. They are being cost-effective yet fashion declares a new outfit for a different occasion! Either they’re dowdy or they’re spending too much money, down with the monarchy! Boo hiss, etc.
Anyway, Kate Middleton caused another distraction with her pretty outfit and lack of royal boyfriend. Will they be engaged soon? God I hope so. This speculation is killing me.

Lady Rose Windsor, the younger daughter of the Duke of Gloucester, has married 26-year-old George Gilman. They married on July 19th at Queen’s Chapel, St. James’s Palace. Rose’s sister Lady Davina Lewis, parents Richard and Birgitte, who are the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and her brother, Alexander were in attendance along with other members of the royal family.
Among the guests were the Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal, Peter and Autumn Phillips, Lady Sarah Chatto and Kate Middleton, who attracted media interest for attending without boyfriend Wills. This is yet another wedding Kate has attended, fueling speculation that her appearance at high profile events and family weddings signals an imminent engagement.
Lady Rose looks absolutely beautiful. Her looks are strongly reminiscent of her mother Birgitte, who I always thought was one of the prettiest royals in the family. Many happy wishes to all of them.
This is my tiara. It measures 2″ high in the center, and is called the Fantasy Trellis Tiara.

My podcast/videocast has been going for quite some time, and it has always been a lot of fun. RoyaltyNow! has been a great way to connect with my readers, and it all started as a “frequently asked questions” video. I hope to improve it more and more even now.
As my wedding approaches, I have been adding more items to my gift registry. I discovered a podcasting set that can be purchased through the store Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It looked great, so I added it to the registry a few weeks ago. I am glad I did, because it is a good price, and I think it’s time to upgrade. The need for better video has been made painfully apparent looking back at my Royal Collection video’s quality. More recently, my “Voki” avatar made me aware of the equally heinous audio that I contend with on a weekly basis.
The podcasting set is one of those fun things you get to add to your registry after you select all of your absolutely sensible items. :)
Also promised on my June 12th post, here is the dual review of the Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Souvenir Album and Five Gold Rings. Click here to visit RoyaltyNow!.

Our honeymoon destination is England, coming this autumn. I am so excited, and I hope to be able to get a lot of footage filmed on the trip to present to you all upon the return. If anyone has any comments or suggestions on how to get around, etc., let me know! :) All advice is appreciated.
Congratulations to Joachim and Marie, recently married at Mogeltonder Kirk. See Danish Royal Watchers for photos.
