Nice Work!
Relations between Sarah Ferguson and the Royal Family have thawed so much that she has enjoyed a week’s holiday at Balmoral. Sarah was even asked to stay on longer than planned. Good on you, Fergie!
Who Spilled?
The Duke of Edinburgh has drawn up “secret plans” (Daily Mail’s words) for a private funeral at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, and has declined the offer of a State service. A unique feature of Prince Philip’s service – codenamed ‘Forth Bridge’ by Palace officials – is that the Duke, the oldest serving Royal consort in British history, has requested his coffin be borne by the same gun carriage used to carry Victoria at her funeral in 1901.
If it’s code-named and referred to as secret, then why is it in a newspaper?? I’ve never understood why the media does that. Also, I don’t want to think of Philip dying yet. It’s depressing!
Today we celebrate the union of the British North American provinces under the name of Canada. The celebrating began with a formal flag-raising ceremony on Parliament Hill.
A proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, formed the British North American provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st, 1868.
Happy birthday!
Bon Anniversaire!

Celebrations of all things English are being held across the country to mark St George’s Day.
Events include a focus on English food, with London’s famous Borough Market making a temporary move to Trafalgar Square.
A patriotic boss is giving his 120 employees a paid holiday, at a cost to his business of £35,000. Millionaire David Haythornthwaite said it will be a paid day off from now on.
For the first time in recent memory the flag of St George will be flown over 10 Downing Street to mark the day of England’s patron saint.
On the evening of Maundy Thursday, I went to church. There were six people who had to give a reading, and I was one. After the reading, I had to ceremoniously bang a nail into a cross, which was about as big as I am. It had the crown of thorns on it. Then, I extinguished one of six candles.
Since this service focused solely on Christ’s crucifixion, it was very solemn and I found myself trying not to cry. Then I thought, “Why do I want to cry? I know how this story ends! It ends happily!”
Now I’m off to church again this good morn, and I will get to celebrate the happy and triumphant part of the story. Hey, it’s not every day that death is well and truly conquered. :D
A joyous and peaceful Easter to you all!
Having a family that is part Irish, I was raised on the Clancy Brothers’ music. Now, the High Kings have come along and have become the new Clancy Brothers for me. The son of Bobby Clancy is in this group actually (on the far right).
I simply had to share. This should definitely put you in the mood for Saint Patrick’s Day. (Should there be a “Mandy’s Irish Royalty”? :D)
I wish you all health and happiness in 2008. Thanks for being a part of Mandy’s British Royalty.
A Very Happy and Blessed Easter to You All!
Whatever you do for the least of these my brothers, you do it to me. Matthew 25:40

It has been difficult. Nothing would be adequate enough to thank our soldiers for what they have had to endure. I truly appreciate you, American and British soldiers especially, having to fight such a tricky and heated war.
Please know that, for those of you not home this Christmas, we are thinking of you always. We sincerely hope you return soon and safely. Many blessings.
Mandy
