Reviewing official British royal websites

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Marilyn of ‘Marilyn’s Royal Blog’ reviews the official websites for the British monarchy, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York and Prince Michael of Kent.

Which website is your favorite? I like the layout of Prince Michael’s website. Very clean and easy to navigate. I do like the update made to the Prince of Wales’ website. Remember when it used to be dark green? I do. I loved that colo(u)r. Other than that, the new look is great and its accessibility is wonderful. Prince Charles is always very willing to discuss his views and beliefs. You always know where you stand with him, which I like.

Has anyone seen Princess Michael’s website? The wife of HRH Prince Michael, she is notorious for her public gaffes, much like the Duke of Edinburgh but without the humor. Still, she’s a right royal character that can’t be passed by. The Princess’ website of course highlights her literary works, the most recent one being “The Serpent and the Moon“.

Meebo Hiccup

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Sorry if I did not appear today for the chat. Meebo, which signs me in to Yahoo and AOL at the same time, was giving me problems. However, I want to thank everyone who came to chat yesterday and I hope we can resume our live discussions on Monday (June 30th).

Posts Deleted

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Two posts had to be deleted. They seemed to be causing the blog to slow down, and because of that, the side bar’s categories disappeared as if they couldn’t load.

I think it was due to the images. One was the Queen at Ascot, and the other was Camilla during Trooping the Colo(u)r, and for some reason those were the culprits for the lag-time. Usually photos from PicApp.com are not like that.

I apologize for the inconvenience!

Princely Site Gets Makeover

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

HSH Prince Albert of Monaco’s official website has had a major overhaul. Due to the interest in the principality and the technology of this day and age, it was only a matter of time before the site was given a makeover. It’s been unveiled to the sound of applause. I absolutely love it!

Monaco’s Princely family now has an official website on par with the royal families of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and of course, our very own British Royal Family. Click here for the official site Palais de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco.

Flickr Is Possessing My Blog.

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Once in while I like to check on the blog, just in passing, to see if all is well. Usually it is. Lately, however, things have been mighty wierd, and it all seems to stem from Flickr. Perhaps some of you Flickr-literate people can help me sort this out?

Once upon a time, Long Ago, It was a dark and stormy night, etc., I wanted to log in to the blog, but found that I couldn’t do it. Spread out before me was a “Page not found” error, and it was directly from Flickr. Yet it was was my blog’s address! What was happening?

My main website was ok, but this Flickr error page coming from the blog’s address is a complete mystery. All I did was update Wordpress with its latest version via FTP.

So I remove Flickr badge from said blog. I thought that might be the cause. No such luck, so I decided to wait and see what would happen. The blog eventually returned to normal, so I thought I was safe.

The next thing I know, the error page is back again. What to do? My fiance said that because my Flickr pictures badge is on the main website, that may have something to do with it. There may be some sort of error somewhere, and the Flickr error page just happens to be the first error page that you get sent to. It is overriding my personalized error page from CPanel.

Huh?

So if any of you out there know what to do, please let me know. For the time being, I’m afraid I will have to get rid of the Flickr badge on the site. You can still access the photos by going to Flickr and searching for me (MandysRoyalty).

So I am getting the feeling that I will have to perform an exorcism soon, and thus Flickr will be no more.

Good for you, Fergie

The Princess and the Wii

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Yeah, it was a dumb pun. I think it’s exciting that the Queen really likes the Nintendo Wii though. And why wouldn’t she? It’s one of the most entertaining and innovative systems out there.

The Queen seems to like keeping abreast of the times with the latest gadgets and technology. Look at her Royal YouTube channel, for instance. A lot of that is Prince Philip’s influence too, I think. We all know how much he loves efficiency and gadgets.

When Elizabeth and Philip were first married, he made sweeping changes in the royal homes. When they got to Buckingham Palace, he did the same thing - the installation of dishwashers, washing machines, and even hotplates in separate royal apartments so the kitchens would not have to run full-steam 24/7.

The Queen Turns Techie

Friday, June 29th, 2007

The Queen is set to obtain a BlackBerry mobile device so she can e-mail her staff, her family, and even surf the internet in between engagements. I certainly hope Ma’am makes a stop at MandysRoyalty.org and says hello!
