This is so appalling:
Honours system quotas to decorate more women and ethnic minorities – Telegraph.
I guess you don’t have to worry about doing anything of merit anymore; you just have to be a woman or a minority.
Speaking as a woman, I would turn down an honor simply because of my sex. If, for instance, I wanted to be honored by the Queen, I want it to be because Her Majesty appreciates my work promoting the value of a monarchy and Anglo-American relations. Not because the government wants to look good for the extremely uptight Politically Correct brigade.
Isn’t this why people were initially suspicious of the new Elizabeth Cross? Some said it was touching for the Queen to institute such an honor, and some said that if it was merely a Gordon Brown stunt designed to distract, they’d be angry.
Well, this is a government stunt, and I’m angry. The Queen should not be a part of this tacky political arena.

Megan Robertson’s magnificent Medals of the World is now listed on the blog on the right hand side under “Sources”. Her website is full of wonderful information on just about every medal on earth. Megan also provides a lot of helpful links to other sites who have information on medals and honors around the world.
Megan’s site is found at www.medals.org.uk and has been a part of my links list on Mandy’s British Royalty for several years now. Enjoy!
Prince William has earned his wings after more than 12 weeks of training. HRH is the fourth generation of the monarchy to become a Royal Air Force pilot, following Prince Charles, Prince Philip, and great-grandfather King George VI.
A series of official photographs of the prince in training was released to mark the occasion, seen at The Monarchist and The Telegraph.

It’s been a big year for sporty royal Zara Phillips, after she won a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games and was then honoured again at the Horse Of The Year show. And the pretty 25-year-old was given more reason to celebrate this week when her aunt, the Duchess of Cornwall, presented her with another piece of silverware for her growing collection.
