Hart, along with fellow panelists on the popular show “Have I Got News For You” were talking about the latest gaffe by Prince Philip. At a dinner held in honor of Pratibha Patil’s state visit to Britain, many of the Indian president’s countrymen were in attendance. Philip greeted Indian businessman Atul Patel and said, “There’s a lot of your family here tonight!”
Miss Hart deadpanned: “There is no place for racism in the modern world and the sooner that Greek twit and his Kraut wife realize it, the better.”
Now the BBC is said to be in a “race row”. Again, apparently. I think people just need to relax.
Did anyone see “Wallis & Edward” on BBCAmerica? I thought the actors were great, although I felt that Wallis was portrayed as being more emotional than she really was. From what I have read, Wallis was emotionally detatched and quite calculating. This movie romanticized her, in my opinion.
For those of you here in the United States, I strongly advise against subscribing to BBCAmerica.
The shows are just awful. Waterloo Road, Hot Docs, Footballers Wives, etc. make me ill. Most of us look to British Broadcasting for new, hilarious, and innovative programming, not snarky perversion, with people who are constantly dangling a toe on the pedophilia line.
I’d stay with PBS or WGBH, public programming stations who play the best British comedies and dramas. BBCAmerica needs to re-think its lineup. Americans get enough of crass Hollywood garbage, we don’t need a British version shoved down our throats as well.
