While out and about in La Conner, Washington, I stumbled upon a little antique store. I had spotted a familiar photo in the window – it was King George VI with Queen Elizabeth and the little princesses. Intrigued, I went inside.
Due to the close proximity of Canada, the store had many small royal items, several of which were the Illustrated London News. I purchased three: Read more…
A very happy ten years to HRH Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

A few days earlier the Countess was seen with their daughter, Lady Louise, on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Royal Family was watching the Trooping the Colour ceremony celebrating the Queen’s official (read: national) June birthday.

Or should I say, “Happy Belated Birthday” to His Royal Highness.
See? This is why I need a Royal Events Calendar.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, gave birth to a healthy boy yesterday.
It was reported that HRH would deliver her second child via caesarian this Friday, but it occurred Monday instead.
The life of the Countess and first child Louise hung in the balance in 2003, when the baby was delivered via emergency C-section. Two years prior to the birth of Louise, Sophie had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering an ectopic pregnancy.
So this successful pregnancy has Sophie and her husband, HRH Prince Edward, “absolutely thrilled!” His mother The Queen and the entire Royal Family couldn’t agree more!
Happily, the Countess of Wessex is pregnant with her second child.
HRH has had a lot of difficulty with previous pregnancies, so with every best wish, congratulations to Sophie, Prince Edward, the Queen, and the rest of the family!
HRH Prince Edward and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger were guests of honor at a recent school awards ceremony. The Earl of Wessex had been invited to see Duke of Edinburgh awards presented in the US for the first time ever.
Edward’s presence – which has been commemorated with the planting of a California oak in the school grounds – is the culmination of an 18-month process to establish the awards stateside. The scheme – which was founded by his father Prince Philip over 50 years ago and has been completed by 5 million young people in 110 countries – will be known as the Duke of Edinburgh Young Americans Challenge in the US.
