Where it all started:

Royal Baby Names and The Titles-to-Be
The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant! The royal couple are reportedly spilling the beans now that Kate has had to be admitted to the hospital. According to the press release from Buckingham Palace:
Poor Kate! Not a fun situation now, but in the end it will all be worth it. Remember William’s chubby baby cheeks? How about a toddler Kate and her large doe eyes? What a lovely little baby they will have!
NAMES
What will the royal cherub be called? I think that if the child is a boy, he will have the name William in there somewhere. I also predict Charles and possibly Albert. Harry may be another name, and Prince Harry will surely stand as a godfather.
If it’s a girl, names may include Catherine and most certainly Elizabeth. That is Kate’s middle name and, of course, the Queen’s name.
Then again, William and Kate could throw us all a curve ball and not choose any of the aforementioned names, girl or boy! They might take a page out of the book of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. She and her husband, Prince Daniel, chose the name Estelle for their daughter. It is not your usual Swedish name; the only other Estelle in the Bernadotte family was American-born Estelle Manville, who married Count Folke Bernadotte and became the Countess of Wisborg!
TITLES
As Prince William is the second in line to the throne, I went back and looked at the history of George V and his titles. He, too, was in a similar position to William’s.
After the death of his elder brother, George was created Duke of York. His father, Edward, was the Prince of Wales and his grandmother, Queen Victoria, was on the throne. Here’s the layout:
George V
Born: His Royal Highness Prince George of Wales
Elder brother dies: Created His Royal Highness The Duke of York soon after
Queen Victoria dies January 1901: His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall and York
Later in 1901: Created Prince of Wales by Edward VII
May 1910: His Majesty The King
William:
Born: His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales
For his marriage to Kate: Created His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge
If the Queen were to die: His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge
King Charles can create William Prince of Wales.
If Charles dies: William becomes His Majesty The King
William’s child will be His/Her Royal Highness Prince/ss X of Cambridge. As the family shifts positions, the child will also see title changes like these.
The Commonwealth heads came together with the Queen in October 2011 to overturn the law of primogeniture. It has been decided that if a girl is born first, she cannot be usurped by the birth of a younger brother.
This is not officially written in stone yet, however, so until the law takes effect, a girl could still technically be trumped by a boy. Hurry up, lawmakers!
