While the Fringe Tiara is beautiful and has been worn for the weddings of her mother and grandmother, Zara may choose the Meander Tiara to represent one side of her family. The choice of church is a nod to the other.

The tiara comes from Prince Philip’s mother, Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark. It was her wedding gift to then-Princess Elizabeth. Her Majesty has never worn it publicly, but she did pass it on to Princess Anne who has worn it for many occasions.

The wedding ceremony will take place in Crathie Kirk, in the Scottish village of Crathie. The Royal Family has enjoyed Scotland for several generations, and they worship at the little church when they are on holiday at Balmoral Castle.

Scotland was the birthplace of Zara’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who came from the Bowes-Lyon family. Zara’s other formidable female forebear, Queen Victoria, was also an ardent fan of Scotland and cherished her time at Balmoral.

Two very important family connections are made with the location and choice of tiara. I look forward to seeing Zara, Mike, and both families enjoy their special day.

Princess Nathalie is the niece of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark; Nathalie’s mother is Margrethe’s sister Benedikte.

I truly love the tiara Nathalie wore. It is the Khedive of Egypt Cartier Tiara, originally a wedding gift from the Khedive of Egypt to Princess Margaret of Connaught. The Princess married the future King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden. When she died, the tiara was inherited by her daughter Princess Ingrid, who married into the Danish Royal Family to become Queen Ingrid of Denmark.

All three of Queen Ingrid’s daughters have donned it for their weddings – Margrethe, the eldest, who married Count Henri de Monpezat; Benedikte, who wed Richard, Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg; and Anne-Marie, who married Constantine, the ex-King of Greece. Nathalie’s elder sister, Alexandra, wore it for her 1998 wedding.

It seems that Princess Nathalie’s bridesmaid was wearing the same dress as Theodora of Greece. Princess Theodora wore the single-strap flowing gown for her brother Nikolaos’ nuptials last summer.

The wedding party has been announced!  Kate and William will be supported at their spring nuptials by their younger siblings. Phillipa (Pippa) Middleton is Maid of Honor and Prince Harry is Will’s Best Man.

With them are: Lady Louise Windsor, 7, daughter of Prince Edward. She is William’s first cousin.

Next is Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8,  the daughter of Viscount Linley and granddaughter of the queen’s late sister, Princess Margaret.

William Lowther-Pinkerton, 10, and Tom Pettifer, 8, are the pageboys. Tom is the son of the Prince’s former nanny, Tiggy (Legge-Burke) Pettifer. Little William is the son of Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, private secretary and a longtime aide to Princes William and Harry.

The younger children include Eliza Lopes and Grace van Cutsem, both 3 years old. Little Eliza is the granddaughter of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall;  Grace is the daughter of  Hugh van Cutsem, an old friend of Prince William. The van Cutsems have been close to Prince Charles and the Royals for many years.

A source told The Mail on Sunday that he’d seen the mold for the commemorative coin at the Mint’s Llantrisant plant in South Wales. The news of this possible creation sent royal wedding watchers into a tizzy.

Clarence House denies that there are any preparations to mint such a coin, but that doesn’t stop the public guessing the date of William’s engagement to Kate Middleton. Some people say it will be next year, others say it will be in 2012. Whatever the date may be, vote now for the style of ring the Prince may choose for Kate here (images available). Will he pick one of these styles, or go down a completely different road?

Many details have not been made public yet, but one important tidbit we do know is that Victoria has chosen the Cameo tiara as her headpiece. One of the oldest jewels in the Swedish royal family’s collection, the Cameo tiara was worn by the princess’s mother, Silvia, when she married King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Owned by the French Empress Josephine, it was inherited by her granddaughter and namesake, Duchess Josephine of Leuchtenberg, who brought it to Sweden when she married the future King Oscar I. It has been passed down by the Bernadotte dynasty ever since.

The funny thing is, my husband’s cousin is getting married the same day – June 19th – and we will be on the other side of the country celebrating her wedding. What to do?
